Poem - The Storm of Life
The Storm of Life
Awakened from my slumber
My mind is still adrift
Confused in my surroundings
The atmosphere will shift
Sudden strikes of lightning
Blind me from the truth
Secretly stealing
Innocence of my youth
Crashing thunder fills the air
And mutes out all that I hear
Your voice once filled my head
But now I’m deaf, I fear
Strong winds and pouring rain
Leave me feeling all washed out
Yearning for a rescue
But swimming in a pool of doubt
All hope lost, death now certain
I search for help within
A mustard seed-size faith
Amongst my life of sin
Lord, I know I can find you
I search with all my heart
I know you’ve never left me
You were with me from the start
Save me from my turmoil
And forgive me for my sin
Place my feet upon thy path
And cleanse me from within
